Meet Our Lawyers
Since being admitted to the the Michigan Bar in 2015, Brandon has focused most of his practice on personal injury litigation and is a strong advocate on behalf of his clients injured in automobile accidents. With a extensive understanding of Michigan’s No-Fault insurance system Brandon has collected millions in unpaid medical bills from insurance companies. Since co-founding Biggs & Gunst, P.C., Brandon has expanded his practice to include family law as well as mediation.
Brandon graduated from Flagler College in St Augustine, Florida with a Bachelors in Economics in 2010. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2013, where he specialized in maritime and admiralty law, with an emphasis in trial practice. In addition to growing up near the water, in Merritt Island, Florida, Brandon’s interest in maritime concerns stems from the two and a half years he worked aboard a 72’ tall ship in college. Brandon had the privilege of serving as a Sea Grant Law Fellow while at Roger Williams, where he worked with local municipalities and addressed legal issues surrounding their energy needs.
Community service has always been important in Brandon’s life, and has become a hallmark of Biggs & Gunst philosophy. Following his graduation from Flagler College, Brandon rode from Jacksonville, Florida to San Francisco, California on bicycle with an organization called Bike & Build, which raises money and awareness for affordable housing programs through cross country cycling trips. He was so moved by this experience, he took a position leading a second trip from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Cannon Beach, Oregon, following his first year of law school. On his second trip, Brandon experienced the loss of a friend and fellow leader on another of Bike & Build’s routes due to and inattentive driver. As a result, Brandon is dedicated to fighting for cyclists rights, and getting justice for those who have been injured in motor vehicles. It was also on this second trip across the country that Brandon met Lizzy, the woman who would one day become his wife. The two moved them to the area when Lizzy, an Ann Arbor native, began graduate school at the University of Michigan.
Brandon spends his free time with Lizzy and their Airedale, Opie. In addition to being an avid sailor and cyclist, Brandon is a car enthusiast. He enjoys working on cars, going on drives, and is in the process of rebuilding a vintage motorcycle in his spare time.

Scott R. Gunst, Jr.
Scott has always had a passion for the law and wanted to be a lawyer since an early age. In 2012 that dream was realized when Scott became a member of the Pennsylvania bar. While the dream was realized, the hard work had just begun. In 2017 Scott formed Biggs & Gunst P.C. with Brandon Biggs, his objective is offer clients a better legal experience. Too often people complain about their lawyer’s lack of communication and involvement in their case; Scott’s goal is to change that.
Scott has experienced firsthand how in an instant a car accident can change someone’s life. In 1996 his family was nearly killed in a horrific accident with a tractor trailer. Though everyone survived the accident, their injuries were severe and his mom was left permanently disabled. The accident changed Scott and his family’s lives forever and he is dedicated to helping those who have been injured receive the justice they deserve.
Prior to moving to Michigan, Scott was an associate at the Philadelphia boutique maritime firm Reeves McEwing LLP. It was there that Scott focused his practice primarily on maritime and commercial transportation litigation defense which included commercial truck accident cases. Scott’s experience as a defense attorney gives him a unique insight and advantage when litigating cases that many plaintiff’s attorneys do not possess. Having represented insurance companies Scott is aware of their tactics and uses this knowledge to benefit his clients.
Scott earned his law degree at Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island. While in law school he focused his academics on maritime and environmental law, earning top grades in courses on admiralty law, marine salvage and ocean and coastal environmental law. He was also a Sea Grant Law Fellow where he researched and published two papers on hydroelectric power in Rhode Island and the legal barriers commercial fisherman face should they carry passengers for hire aboard their vessels. Scott also interned at the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management where he was the lead drafter of the Department of Environmental Management; Galilee Port Operations Regulations and Berthing Management System and the Department of Environmental Management; Newport Fishing Port Operations Regulations.
Scott lives in Ypsilanti and is devoted to giving back to his community in any way he can. He is an avid cyclist and has raised thousands of dollars while participating in several charity rides as well as a serious advocate for the sport. Scott is also passionate about the water and enjoys boating and sport fishing.
Scott is an active member in the Maritime Law Association of the United States and serves at the Young Lawyer Liaison to the Fisheries Committee. As an accomplished author, Scott has had several articles published in maritime journals. Scott is licensed to practice in both the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey and is awaiting admission in Michigan.

Brandon and Scott from Biggs & Gunst P.C. were great to work with! They helped me settle and Auto claim in a timely manner and made the process extremely easy. They are very knowledgeable, answered any questions I had, and were always available when I needed them. They made what I thought would be a major headache, into a very streamlined and simple process, and kept me updated every step of the way. I would highly recommend working with Biggs & Gunst P.C.! Brandon and Scott will get the job done, and offer a personal touch that is often missing in this line of work!
My ex and I used the services of Brandon Biggs as a mediator for our child custody and support case in Livingston County. He was very professional and in being a mediator did not take sides which I found to be quite refreshing. In any matter that we had difficulty agreeing upon he would have us explain exactly why it was that we felt we should have it our way and in doing so came up with middle ground that both of us could agree upon. I appreciated the fact that he did not sugarcoat anything when it came to how the courts would view and handle any issues that we had about how we felt things should go. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a mediator.
